We got the opportunity to sit down with Gavin from Norsefleet Consultancy to find out more about his business and why he chose to move into Base Bordon IC. We discovered Gavin’s biggest challenges, successes and advice he would give to other businesses that he wish he had when starting out.
When and why did you start your business?
As a young man, I always wanted to run my own business, but I never had a product or service that I felt confidently and willingly promoted. This year, I finally established my own business. The more experience I accumulated by working in different businesses, environments, and learning from knowledgeable individuals, I started to comprehend and gain knowledge with how the market worked, and I started to notice gaps in firms that would lead to lost earnings. I started it because I wanted to have greater freedom and creative control to help bring this to light, offer a solution to close these gaps, and increase business profitability.
What does your business do and who does it help?
My company examines the costs associated with commercial fleets of vehicles and seeks to find ways to improve cost control while working to address the most crucial question: Are your suppliers providing value and quality service? We also profile assets for procurement and analyse the financial effects of when they enter the aftersales life.
What do you love about working at BASE?
It is a group of companies working cooperatively as an ant colony in order to succeed. There are many outstanding people from a variety of different businesses and professions are available to offer help, experience, and advise. As a result, it’s a fantastic place to network, learn new skills, and conduct business. The BASE Team here is incredibly warm and helpful. They make it a welcoming place to expand your company.
If there is anything you could share with other businesses about what you wished you knew when you started your business, what would it be?
Stop occasionally and give yourself an extra 30 seconds, a minute, or even a day to think things out. Even though it seems like we’re always racing against time, taking a few additional minutes now will benefit you later.
What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Keeping the faith might be challenging since sometimes your confidence is based on how many customers you have. if you are trying to find your first client and have no customers. Your self-confidence may suffer, but you must be kind to yourself and give yourself every chance to improve your situation and succeed.
What has been your biggest success to date?
Even though my business career is still in its infancy, starting my own company has been my greatest achievement.
What is next for your business? What projects/ambitions do you have for the future?
All about the network! My goal is to sign five long-term collaborations with clients in the next six months.
