Discover how Broxhead House transformed from a military Officers' Mess into Bordon's premier business innovation centre, combining historic grandeur with modern business excellence.
Our Story
A legacy of leadership and strategy
BASE Bordon Innovation Centre occupies the beautifully restored Officers’ Mess of the historic Louisburg Barracks. Built at the turn of the 20th century to house Field Artillery Regiments, this distinguished building has witnessed over a century of strategic planning, leadership development, and community building.
After serving through two world wars and hosting the Canadian Army headquarters, Broxhead House became the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers’ Officers’ Mess – a place where military personnel gathered to plan, socialise, and support one another’s success.
Today, that same spirit of camaraderie, strategic thinking, and mutual support continues as BASE Bordon provides modern businesses with an inspiring environment for growth and collaboration.

The Transformation
Regeneration and renewal
When the Ministry of Defence vacated Louisburg Barracks in 2015, it presented a unique opportunity to transform this historic site into a thriving business community. Through strategic partnership between Homes England, Enterprise M3 LEP, and East Hampshire District Council, the vision emerged to create a space where businesses could both start and scale.
Oxford Innovation Space was selected to manage BASE Bordon based on their extensive experience operating 30+ innovation centres across the UK. Their expertise in combining historic preservation with modern business needs made them the perfect partner for this transformation.
The result: a £1 billion regeneration project that maintains the building’s historic character while providing state-of-the-art business facilities.
