Crisis management – why it matters and where to start.

  • Crisis vs normal work drama
  • Barriers
  • What do strong organisations look like
  • Good and bad examples
  • Business continuity – what is it and where to start.

In this discussion, Nick Moon, Managing Director of Applied Resilience, discusses the characteristics that make organisations, large and small, resilient to a crisis, as well as where and why many fail. He also gives a simple guide to starting a business continuity planning, an increasingly important and expected system, cutting through the jargon and separating the ‘must do’s’ from the ‘nice to have’s’.

Nick has been the Managing Director of Applied Resilience, since its foundation in 2014. Nick has managed large and diverse risk areas from environmental hazards to counter terrorism, as well as being heavily involved in high profile planning and incidents, including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, international emergency planning exercises and the Local Authority tactical lead for the severe flooding of 2014 response and recovery. Applied Resilience works with several local authorities, schools and businesses to help prepare them for any major disruptive event.
